Mekena Point

Mekena Point is a coastal dive site on Maui, commonly accessed from the Kaanapali/Lahaina area. The site sits along a shallow reef line with typically calm conditions and clear tropical water. Divers usually start around 5–12 meters and explore a mix of rocky ledges, sandy patches, and small coral formations that attract a variety of reef fish. Expect typical Western Maui species such as blue-backed fusiliers, wrasse, triggerfish, and occasional green sea turtles, with vis often in the 20–40 m range in good conditions. The site is suitable for entry-level to intermediate divers, depending on current and visibility, and is commonly visited as a drift or anchor-site depending on the day’s conditions. Local access is convenient from nearby towns, with Kaanapali within a short drive and Lahaina as a broader access hub.
