Kapalua
Makuleia Bay
Makuleia Bay is a coastal dive site on Maui’s northwest side. The area features shallow bays with sandy patches and rocky outcrops that provide gentle drop-offs suitable for recreational diving. Access is straightforward from nearby towns, and water tends to be clear with mild to moderate currents depending on conditions. Typical Western Pacific/Maui coastal life includes small reef fish, parrotfish, and occasional green turtles in the shallower shallows. The site is commonly used for beginner and drift-diver training days due to its gentle depth profile and calm conditions in favorable weather. Visibility and sea state can vary with tides and wind, so plan sessions with local centers if you’re targeting specific conditions.
