Protaras
Liberty Wreck
Liberty Wreck is a popular early-wair dive site near Protaras, Ayia Napa and Paralimni on the southeast coast of Cyprus. The wreck rests in shallow waters, typically around a few tens of metres deep, making it accessible to trained recreational divers. Expect a broad, sunlit silhouette with a cargo-ship hull, occasional penetration routes depending on local conditions, and varied marine life around the structure. Entry is usually from a sandy bottom with gentle current possible; check local dive operators for current conditions and depth ranges. The site is well-suited for introductory wreck dives, a relaxed drift in calm conditions, and a straightforward underwater profile for learning buoyancy and basic wreck techniques. Nearby seagrass and rocky outcrops host common Mediterranean species such as groupers, wrasses, damselfish, moray eels, and reef-associated invertebrates.
