Les Barges

Les Barges is a local dive site near Basse-Terre and the city of Gourbeyre, within easy reach for day trips from Guadeloupe’s main towns. The area features typical Caribbean shallower coastal topography with sandy and rocky habitats, and is commonly enjoyed by recreational divers. Entry is usually from shore or a short boat ride, with calm conditions most days and visibility that varies with sea state. Divers commonly encounter a mix of reef-associated species and common Caribbean juvenile fish, with the nearby shoreline and nearby reefs contributing to the biodiversity of the area. This site is well suited for beginners and for refresher dives when weather and sea conditions permit, and it can be combined with nearby sites to explore local underwater landscapes.
