La Calita

La Calita is a shallow coastal dive site near Almuñécar and Nerja on the Costa Tropical. The site features a sloping sandy bottom with scattered rocks and patches of seagrass, making for relaxed, beginner-friendly dives in calm conditions. Visibility is typically moderate, and currents are usually light, suitable for entry-level rec dives and snorkeling transitions. Expect local Mediterranean assemblages including small groupers, wrasse, damselfish, octopus, and occasional schools of page-breaking forage fish around the rocks and seagrass beds. The site is commonly accessed from shore with simple entry, and is popular for training dives and short recreational trips in sheltered conditions.
