Hermenegildo Capelo (Wreck)

Hermenegildo Capelo (Wreck) is a coastal site off Portimão, inside the Algarve region of Portugal. The wreck lies in shallow to mid-range depths and is typically dived from a coastal point of entry with access from local dive boats. The site forms a historical wreck dive with a relatively accessible profile, often featuring a steel hull resting on a sandy bottom near the shelf. Expect a straightforward orientation with opportunities to inspect the exterior structure, and, depending on conditions, limited interior swims. Surrounding water is clear in good weather, with typical Atlantic marine life including small-groupers, moray eels and bream nearby. Currents are usually mild and tides can influence visibility, so planning around local conditions is recommended for safe penetration and drift avoidance.
