Hammerhead Reef

Hammerhead Reef is a shallow coastal dive site typical of subtropical Florida waters. Located a short hop from Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale, it features easy access and calm conditions suitable for beginners and snorkelers transitioning to scuba. The reef forms a gentle topography with scattered coral heads and sandy patches, supporting a variety of small reef fish, damselfish, snappers, and occasional larger pelagic sightings closer to the edge. Expect clear water conditions in good weather, with visibility often ranging between a few meters to well over ten meters. Currents are usually mild, making this site a good choice for casual dives and training, though divers should monitor local conditions and depth limits. Entry is through a shallow shoreline slope or a small boat ramp depending on the exact location and tides.
