Damnoni Old Harbour
Damnoni Old Harbour is a sheltered, shallow dive site on the northern coast of Crete, built around a small historic harbour. The site is accessible from the shore with easy entry and exits, making it suitable for beginner to intermediate divers. Expect calm conditions with sandy and rocky patches, and limited depth that typically stays within a few meters to mid-teens. The harbour walls and adjacent seabed host a variety of Mediterranean species common to Greek coastal sites, such as damselfish, wrasse, blennies, octopus and moray eels, with soft corals and sponges in the sheltered zones. Visibility is usually fair, and currents are generally mild inside the harbour. The proximity to nearby towns like Damnoni, Plakias, and Asomatos provides convenient access for shore dives and short boat trips from the area.
