Clay Slope

Clay Slope is a shallow plate-breaking reef section off St Peter Port, Guernsey. This local site features a gently sloping seabed with scattered rocks and sandy patches, making it suitable for relaxed intro dives and training dives. Expect mild currents and good visibility on calm days. The slope supports typical Channel Island marine life, including wrasses, gobies, blennies, damselfish, and common crustaceans, with chances to spot shy small groupers among structuring rocks. Access is straightforward from nearby shore entries, and the site lies close to St Peter Port’s dive operators, making it convenient for short day trips. The calm, shallow conditions make it ideal for practicing buoyancy control, navigation, and safety stops while observing the local subtropical marine habitat.
