Chesil Cove

Chesil Cove is a shallow inshore site on the southern coast of Dorset, near Fortuneswell, with easy access from the beach. The site features a sheltered cove and a gentle sloping seabed, suitable for beginners and training dives in calm conditions. Typical visibility is moderate, and local marine life includes small fish, wrasse, bass, and occasional juveniles of larger species. The area is known for its stable conditions in good weather, with safer entry from the beach and a straightforward surface swim to the silt-free sand and rocky patches. Depths commonly range from shallow to around 10 meters, making it ideal for buddy dives, skills practice, and shore-based diving from nearby towns like Fortuneswell and Weston.
