Protaras
Cavo Maris
Cavo Maris is a coastal dive site near Protaras on the southeast coast of Cyprus. The site typically features shallow sloping reefs and rocky plates close to the shore, with easy entry from the beach or a small jetty. It is commonly used by local dive centers for training and for recreational dives, especially for new divers or those preferring calm conditions. Expect clear Mediterranean water, moderate visibility, and a sheltered environment during calmer seas. Marine life generally includes typical eastern Mediterranean species such as damselfish, wrasse, writhing blennies, octopus, and occasionally parrotfish or damselfish; occasional visits by larger groupers or reef fish are possible but not guaranteed. Depths are shallow near the shore, with deeper sections possible a short swim offshore. The site’s proximity to Protaras, Paralimni and Ayia Napa makes it a convenient option for trips staying in the area, with nearby dive centers offering guided dives and training.”,
