Cannon Patch is a shallow coral-dominated reef site off Stock Island and Key West. The area features a topography of sandy gaps interspersed with limestone ledges and patches of live coral, typically ranging from a few to about 15 meters in depth. Access is straightforward from nearby marinas with calm conditions common in calm Atlantic storefronts; currents are generally mild to moderate and can pick up near tidal changes. The site hosts common Western Caribbean reef life such as damsel and parrotfish, groupers, moray eels, sponges and a variety of hard corals. It is suitable for beginner to intermediate divers who are comfortable with reef navigation and occasional drift.
