Butterfly Reef

Butterfly Reef is a shallow tropical reef site suitable for all levels, located near West End and Cotton Tree Bay. The area features a mosaic of corals, with sandy patches in between and a gentle slope that invites easy exploration for beginners. Expect typical Caribbean reef life such as angelfish, parrotfish, snapper, trunkfish and moray eels, alongside coral formations that host a variety of small reef organisms. Conditions are commonly calm with moderate to good visibility; currents are generally light but can increase with tides. This site is often accessed from the nearby coastal shelves, with entry from a sandy beach or a small boat drop-off depending on conditions. Nearby towns provide services, but Butterfly Reef remains a modest, local dive option rather than a marquee destination.
