Poipu
Brenneckes Ledge
Brenneckes Ledge is a shallow, gently sloping reef site off Poipu on Kauai’s south shore. The topography features a series of ledges and small overhangs that drop from about 6 to 18 meters, creating crevices and swim-throughs for it to be explored on a typical recreational dive. Visibility is commonly good in these tropical waters, and currents are usually mild to moderate, suitable for experienced beginners with supervision or those comfortable with a light drift. Expect a mix of hard coral, encrusting sponges, and a variety of reef fish typical of Hawaiian reefs, such as tangs, wrasses, damselfish, and occasional sea turtles cruising the edge. Entry is straightforward from shore or a small beach access, with calm conditions most days providing reliable photography and macro opportunities along the ledges.
