Avarua
Blackrock
Blackrock is a local dive site near Nikao, Rutaki and Takitumu. It is best known for a shallow, rocky reef edge with a gentle slope and a mix of hard and soft corals. Access is straightforward for boat and shore divers, with typical conditions suited to recreational profiles. Expect moderate visibility and a calm bottom with limited currents, making it suitable for beginners to intermediate divers. Common Western Pacific species include small reef fish, damselfish, wrasse, and occasional octopus and small moray eels; the site supports a healthy reef system without major depth or feature constraints. The site’s proximity to the nearby towns provides easy reach for day trips and short boat rides from the main resorts in the area.
