Coral Gables
Biscayne Bay
Biscayne Bay is a shallow, warm-water coastal site off Miami, known for its clear tropical waters and easy access from shore or boat. The bay features sandy bottoms with scattered seagrass beds, underwater ledges, and patches of coral. Typical conditions are calm to moderate, with visibility often ranging from several to 15 meters depending on wind and currents. Diversity includes tropical reef fish, snapper, parrotfish, and occasional larger pelagics around structure and passes. Entry is straightforward from piers or boats; boats often depart from nearby Miami areas. The site is popular for beginners, shore dives, and training dives, as well as macro observations around seagrass and rubble. Local centers around Miami offer guided dives and rentals, and nearby parks provide onshore access and amenities. Check local tide charts and currents before planning a dive.
