Panglao
Alona Reef
Alona Reef is a local coastal dive site near Panglao and Dauis in the Philippines. The reef runs close to shore with shallow areas suitable for beginner divers and longer shallow profiles that drop into gentle slopes. You can expect typical tropical reef life in calm conditions, including small reef fishes, wrasses, chromis, damsels, and occasional larger schools near structure. The site is best accessed from shore with easy entry from beaches and boats operating in the Panglao area. Visibility varies with tides and weather, generally offering good conditions in dry season and potential surge during monsoon periods. The nearby reefs are part of a bar-backed coastal system that supports coral growth and a variety of invertebrates. This is a convenient local option for beach dives or twilight dives when currents are light and visibility is stable.
