Singapore is a small, city-based dive destination with most diving happening offshore in the southern islands and in the surrounding straits and seas. Water is typically saltwater, influenced by the South China Sea and the Singapore and Malacca Straits, so conditions can vary: visibility may be limited by currents and coastal waters, and dive sites are often suited to short excursions, training, and calm-day plans. Temperatures stay warm year-round, and many dives are focused on local reefs and marine life found around the islands rather than large-scale wall or open-ocean features. As a trip base, Singapore works well if you want easy access to dive centers, equipment rental, and organized trips, but it’s not usually the main destination for divers seeking the biggest “bucket list” reefs in the region.
