Jersey (Channel Islands) is a small but interesting place to scuba dive in temperate Atlantic/Channel waters. Diving is mainly in the sea around the island, with rocky ground, tidal currents, and seasonal changes that affect visibility and water temperature. Expect cooler conditions than Mediterranean destinations, with water temperature often sitting in the low-to-mid teens °C for much of the year, and dive planning that takes tides into account. Sites are typically centered on natural reef areas and wrecks, with a marine environment shaped by the English Channel’s water movement (kelp and other temperate-life habitats are common). If you’re visiting for diving, it’s best thought of as a short-trip destination where local centers can match you to the right sites for the day’s tidal conditions rather than as a warm-water, high-biodiversity “repeated daily” reef holiday.
