Cyprus is a Mediterranean scuba-diving destination focused on the south and southeast coasts, with most popular bases around Ayia Napa, Protaras, and Larnaca. The water is saltwater from the Mediterranean Sea, with conditions that typically improve in calm weather: visibility can range from moderate to good, while currents vary by site and season. Divers commonly find rocky reefs, walls and drop-offs, and sheltered inshore areas that work well for training and relaxed day dives. There are also wrecks and cave-like structures at selected locations, which can add variety if you dive with local operators that know the conditions and entry points. Outside the main coastal areas, diving is much more limited, so planning around the coastal hubs is usually the easiest way to get consistent local access.
