🇧🇿 Belize
Belize is a Caribbean diving destination built around warm saltwater and a large portion of the Belize Barrier Reef System. Most divers base themselves on the mainland and offshore islands, especially around Ambergris Caye (San Pedro Town) and further south in Stann Creek. From there, you can reach the barrier reef and atolls by boat for coral gardens, channels, and drop-offs. Visibility is often good, with conditions ranging from calm, shallow reef dives to deeper walls, depending on the site and season. Marine life is typically diverse for the Caribbean, with the chance to see reef fish and, on the right dives, larger pelagics. Liveaboards and day trips commonly target the outer reef areas around Turneffe and Lighthouse Reef, where the seascape can feel more remote. In comparison, Belize has no major freshwater diving options.
