Antigua and Barbuda is a Caribbean diving destination with mostly saltwater conditions in the North Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea. Around Antigua (including areas such as St. John’s and Jolly Harbour) and out toward Barbuda, you’ll typically find warm tropical water, good year-round access, and reef diving suited to a range of certifications. Visibility can be best when seas are calmer, and currents vary by site and season, so buoyancy and dive planning matter—especially for drift dives. Expect a mix of coral reef habitats, coastal walls and drop-offs, and occasional wreck opportunities, with many dives run from local shore sites and nearby boats. Freshwater diving isn’t a focus in the country.
