Hong Kong is a major diving gateway in southern China, offering access to a variety of coastal and offshore dive sites within a short distance. While the city itself is built-up, a number of locally operated dive centers arrange trips to nearby reefs, wrecks, and rocky reefs in the South China Sea and nearby waters. Expect warm tropical to subtropical conditions, typically good visibility, and diverse marine life in easier sites, with more advanced options available offshore. Freshwater options are limited locally; most diving happens at sea via day trips or weekend excursions coordinated from the urban hub.
