The Biobío Region in southern Chile offers a mix of coastal and estuarine diving along the south‑central Pacific coast. Access is centered on the coastline near Concepción and nearby towns, with dive sites typically featuring temperate waters, rocky shores, and nutrient-rich environments that attract a variety of fish and invertebrates. While not as famous as Chile’s central or northern dive zones, the region provides approachable shore diving and boat trips to nearby reefs and pinnacles, with visibility commonly influenced by seasonal upwelling and weather. Local dive centers around Hualpén and nearby coastal communities support recreational diving, including entry-level to intermediate dives and occasional tidemarks of pelagic activity outside the off‑season.
