Ontario

Ontario is a large freshwater diving region in Canada, with most diving concentrated around the Great Lakes. The lake areas (including Lake Ontario) offer clear seasonally variable conditions, mostly rocky or mixed sand-and-gravel bottoms, and a range of dive experiences from relaxed training dives to deeper boat-access profiles. Visitation hubs like Fort Erie and the Toronto–Hamilton corridor make it practical to find recurring charter and shore sites during the warmer months. Farther east, Ontario also links to saltwater diving influences through the Gulf of Saint Lawrence coastline, which typically supports different conditions and marine ecosystems than inland lakes. Planning usually matters most for timing, because visibility and water temperature can change quickly across seasons and locations.
