Launceston sits inland in northern Tasmania and isn’t a coastal diving hub. The city is better known for its historic architecture, food and wine scene, and access to regional natural areas. Nearby dive access is limited; there are no local dive centers or coastal dive sites in the immediate city. Divers visiting Tasmania typically base themselves closer to coastal towns on the island’s eastern or northern shores and drive to dive sites along the coast, with seasonal cold-water conditions and kelp forests in surrounding regions.
